before and after…
This is how the studio looks like, one fine morning when we moved in last week…
…and this is the same space, earlier this afternoon (just before we have lunch @ 4pm *LOL*)
…going to clean up them boxes and stuff a wee bit (and I need more book racks for my books still in boxes!) .
Insya-Allah the Studio area will be operational before end of the week *wink*
Hmmm, a friend of mine asked lah, “Ted, nko tak nak buat launching bukak studio baru kah?”
That question made me think, when I started the old studio space, I didn’t have any type of launching cremony and such, waste of money lah, the launching thing. I rather spend the money watching a nice movie with my kids and a good meal. Then jobs started coming in and the workshops being fully subscribes and such I kinda ter-forgot about it.
This time tho, I gonna ‘launch’ the Studio with a free, yesh, you read it rite, a FREE phototalk.
The phototalk is aimed at beginners. If you just bought a camera, I will touch a wee bit on ‘what button does what function’ (IMHO, I rather you RTFM, ASAP). If you’re wanna learn how to compose your shot for portraiture then this is the phototalk for you. If you bought a 5D or a D3 or a H3D (freakingly hideous expensive bit of gear, that H3D, no?) and/or finally realised that ‘it’s not the camera, it’s you’ who’s not good enuff (sorry ya for talking straight here, please pardon my French..) or just simply got nothing to do on a Saturday morning and wanna see some slide show you’re all welcome to join.
We’re going to share knowledge about lighting and composition. If, this is a big if, a friend of mine is in town and he is free, I gonna invite him to share his work lah so that you will be more inspired.
Now where do I sign up, you gonna ask yourself.
Hold on to your horses lah, as soon as I found a suitable date I am going to open the talk for registration. Remember, it’s free, you pay for your own petrol and toll cost, I going to serve you with some light refreshment, and later for lunch we can go to a kopitiam establishment in TESCO Kajang (just a mere 6 minutes drives away…) if you wanna pick my brain some more.
Since this will be a free talk I am going to limit it to the first 20 people ajer. If you missed out, fret not, this will be a bi-monthly event at my studio, here in Saujana Impian, Kajang.
Now you gonna ask yourself, why lah I do all this (the sceptics amongst you will shurely think there’s some sort of motive that will benefit this Ted fella in the long run oso, no?), for free some more?
Easy, _beeecoz I can_ maaaahhh….
Good bye Sony Alpha DSLR A700, hello Sony Alpha DSLR A800?
Dunno lah about you, when it come to camera system I dontch have a personal preferences. To me if it works and Client oso happy I’m happy oso lerr. That being said, one must have the correct tool for the job. To illustrate a point, one does not need a canon to shoot down a sparrow *wink*
Now why lah such an intro? Well, some ‘camp’ perceived that I am pro one brand over the other while dishing out another brand totally. Hmmm, wherever lah you get THAT kind of idea?
(Editor dewd: do a search for Ted Adnan’s Nikon CLS Workshop circa 2006/2007 if you may and make your own opinion. In a recent edition of ‘Ted Adnan’s Portable Flash Lighting Workshop’ he allegedly hug a fella who uses a ‘Canon’ branded DSLR and accesories when the rest of the participant were using Nikon, *’with a lot of sympathy’, another witness said of the alleged incident*…)
Some wise men once fey-mesly stated that ‘it’s not the camera, it’s the person behind the camera who made a difference’.
I wonder if it’s the same wise men that oso fey-mesly announced that ‘it’s matter not what size _equipment_ you’ve got, it’s how you use it’.
Erm, let’s not get side track with the sexual innuendos now shall we?
George the Sony Dewd once let me play play with an Sony A100 (standard Nikon D70 ajer tapi ada extra features model model prosumer Nikon dan rega lagik murah), at the time (1996) Sony just made an entry to the DSLR by buying Minolta camera division and transformed it into an entity known as ‘Alpha’. The rest, as they say, is history (go google it up lah me too lazy to type this fine, less hazy than yesterday Friday afternoon…) with the introduction of the Sony A700 in 2007 and the A900 in 2008 with many other entry level Alpha DSLR introduced to the market (rumour has it that Sony is grabbing as much entry level market with price cuts and such. My take? in the end we the consumer win *wink*)
Today tho, I heard rumours that the A700 will soon ceased production…
..doesn’t mean that once the production ceased ALL CURRENT A700 will die a sudden death (what lah you panicking about lah whoah hahahah). Usually lah kan, when a production ceased the model will still be supported by the camera manufacturer for a period of 2 years or until the spares runs out. So no biggie lah.
I’ve shot an ad with the A700 model, if you dontch know ady…
more behind the scene images of the ad ->here<-
At the end of the day, the A700 which started production in 2007 is a bit long in the tooth as newer model has appeared in the market such as the A900 below…
…why the A900? Well, it was the cheapest 24 megapixel 35mm full frame deegeetal camera when it appears on the market. I can’t afford nor want those Fuji made Hassy H2/3D and such even tho it’s the current flavour with certain Art Directors type. Mahal giler medium format camera berjenama Hasselblad tuh…
So the grapevine sez there’s definitely be a replacement model dubbed the A800…
…(khabar khabar-angin lalu ajer usah perchaya sangat khabar berita dari Innernet nih) with specs as follows:
15.2Mpx APS-C CMOS Exmor “R” sensor
ISO 100-12.800
6.5 frame per second
New high speed flash sync
9 double cross f/2.8 AF sensor (23 total AF sensor)
New metering and AF sensor with tracking and previous focus
Wi-Fi built-in.
‘Built in WI-Fi?!!!’ Once you made an exposure you can upload it straight to flickr™ / fesbuk™ / myspace™ etc?
Waah laaau weeehhhhhhhh man-nyak syiok!!!
Ahem, do remember these spec is still ‘rumoured’ lah, and I oso got these info from this site here.
But then again kan, George The Sony dewd has been shuttling to Japan every weekends these couple of month (sampai mau TT pun kena time kerja mana best TT time kerja lain lah kalau nak tuang kerja hah!), dontch la tell me he goes there to enjoy the sake and sashimi ajer no?
*grins*
The Shortest Ever Teh Tarik Session for This Year…
I met up with Mac aka Peter (or elsewhere thru out this blog this fella is also know as Peter aka Mac…) earlier this evening for the shortest ever TT session…
…act-cheer-ly ahhh, we didn’t have teh tarik, even tho this particular occassion is called a teh tarik session, we had sumthing stronger, Nescafe™ kurang manis kaw. One cup enuff ady to make you awake half da nite one!
You (if you happens to have a fesbuk account and added me as ‘friend’ even tho we never met and I dontch know you from Jack and commenting on my ‘status’) may be wondering why lah we all like to TT in as many days often sangat-sangat kan? Easy, it’s da time of the day (erm, nite, in this particular session) that most of my regular cronies and kaki are free to erm, meet up and have a nice chat/gossip/netwerking etc (we traded contacts and stuff better than a certain business networking entity that requires the member to attend the weekly session religiously. Oh, if we missed a TT session we won’t get kicked out, unlike the said business networking entity one once you joined a particular chapter you must be very da discipline one attending the morning session meet up religiously.
If you kennot attend then you gotta get a member from another chapter to fill-in for you. Bad news if you dont have friends or contact from another chapter. But then again, if a particular networking methods werks for you then go for it. Who am I lah to pass judgement with my bad grammars and such *wink*
Anyway, this particular TT is very the short coz Peter got a resident association meeting to attend and I gotta go elsewhere for another social (erm, let’s make it ‘networking’ instead of ‘social’ ya? Sounded more ‘professional’ dontch ya think?) meet-up. The reason I met Peter aka mac earlier is becoz he wanna passed me a USB modem thingies since I am currently un-Wired™ (if not for the Blackberry™ Bold, I will definitely be ‘off the Grid’).
TM Point Kajang, when lah you gonna connect my home with Streamyx service and also supply a land line to me new Studio?
You guys are definitely not kosher in my book. But then again, that’s what monopoly is isn’t it?
So this is my first post (at about 1am from the sofa in the living room of my house in Kajang, Malaysia. Told you already Nescafe™ kurang manis kaw punyer only one cup enuff ady to make you awake half da nite one!) using the Celcom service (RM98.00 per month post paid data only ‘package’), checkout the erm, ‘speed’ of the service…
…this is troubling, sumtimes I kena ftp files to Clients over the sea (that includes Penang oso, if you know what I mean *grins*), somewhat large-ish files sum more, at that kind punyer upload speed, aiseh man…
