Alhamdullilah, praise to the Almighty, another Ted Adnan’s Workshop Series was succesfully held today lah…

amongst other things, we learnt how to mix flash with ambient light technique..

..and here’s one lah, by me. I used fill-in flash technique to lift the shadows. On how to improve this pic? Well, if I can swivel my flash so the flash and lens axis is the same, the shadows that appear on the wall at the left side of Haida’s body will be eliminated lah. I will need some (expensive, Ouch!) flash bracket swivel thingies to do that.
The workshop participants, hard at work practicing what they learnt earlier in the day…

yes, she like the image on the Kwanon™ too *wink*

Haida, model for us lah. And why lah the heels were on the other side of the picture? She we’re preparing to jump high up in the air. *wink* But I don’t have pictures tho heheheh…
..but instead, I made this.

Haida with the sunglasses…
Wanna know how I made the image?
With my Sony DSLR A700, I triggered a Nikon SB-800 flash that were bounced off an umbrella at Full power. I used a high-ish shutter speed of 1/250 so I underexposed the background ambient light lah.
With flash at proper setting, a high shutter speed will underexpose the background light thus make it darker. Note the details in the sky.
Well, what’s a workshop without the participants no? As such, I would like to convey my thanks to all who joined today lah.

Download the bigger file here lah. It’s 2000 pixel on the long side ya?
By the way, if you’re keen to join my next workshop, the tentative dates is:

June 14th, Location Portraiture Lighting Technique Workshop (Janda Baik, tbc)
