I’ve been busy since came back from the Crossing Bridges 6 trip in Padang, West Sumatra. When the earthquake struck, we we’re already out of Padang heading to Bukit Tinggi. To cut a long story short, we’re all made it back safe and sound.
A point to ponder tho, while everyone is getting out of Padang (the day after the quake, while awaiting turns to enter our hotel which was severely damaged hence the security fella only let 2 of us in at a time to retrieve our belongings, the sight of a descending Air Asia plane in the sky making a landing approach to the airport sent all of us cheering and clapping hands!), the quake victims in Padang has nowhere left to go (to state the obvious) as it is THEIR home. The least we can do is to pray for their quick recovery and aid in the reconstructions. There’s many aids funds being set-up you just go and make a contributions lah. Any amount will do.
I made a decision NOT to publish images of the devastation as it is already amply covered by the media. In the coming days I will publisha few selected shots of my memory of Padang before the quake, from the Crossing Bridges 6 program.
Some highlights…
The ‘raigng bulls’ pic was taken with a D3 coupled with a 300mm lens, check me out before both me and me gear were splattered with the mud ler (oh yea there were plenty of it when the bulls rode past and spalshed us all with the muck!)
‘Nasi Padang’ in Padang itself is different than from the one served in KL nor Singapore. That being said, the dishes itself varies from one ‘Rumah Makan’ (literally meaning ‘Eating House’ or restaurant, to the rest of us lah) to the next one in Padang and it’s surrounding area. Now, if you joined me in a TT session recently, you gonna noticed how ‘well-rounded’ I’ve become.
We had a lot of snacks in between oso…
Well, I must admit, the bull race is the highlights of the CB6 programme lerr.. wanna join my Padang workshop in Q3 2010?
If you’re just started out and need a guiding hand in improving your basic photography knowledge, please join a basic phototalk (keyword here: it’s a ‘talk’, NOT a ‘workshop’. However, for a few hours of your time you going to listen to 2 photographers with *ahem* some working experience sharing about their knowledge, tips and tricks…) that I am organising together-gether with Itudio Studio in Kelana Mall, Kelana jaya this Saturday, 31st October 2009. Details on how to join here.
Speaking of workshop tho, I am finalising a few more itty bitty teeny weeny minor details thingies regarding my Sabah workshop in Q1 2010. Watch this space often lah.
