Away for Crossing Bridges 6 trip in Padang Sumatera…

Written by Tedadnan on September 26th, 2009

I’m joining the PhotoMalaysia team for the Crossing Bridges trip for the 3rd consecutive year starting from tomorrow till the 2nd of October 2009. As such, there will no blog update till then (funnily, I wonder wether people actually read this blog. Sometimes I feel like I ‘m standing in a spotlight on a stage in a darkened auditorium and doing a monologue. Naahhh, I got my web stats to prove that there’s actually some modest hits on this site lah heh heh heh…) .

I might update my fesbuk account whenever I can find a WIFI spot in Padang. See how lah.

Here’s a pretty picture of some fishermen enjoying the sunrise while waiting for their tekong (boat captain, if you dont’ch know the Malay word lah. The alternative word to use is ‘juragan’. ‘Nakhoda’ is usually reserved for captain of ships. Eh, why lah the semantics thing pops up here?  This is a lighting blog *with bad grammars* _and such_ after all… )

Camera: Sony A900
Lens: 24-70 Carl Zeiss zooming lens thing @ about 40mm, cropped to 16:9 format in post
Exposure: Aperture Priority @ f/5
WB: 6450 Kelvinº in camera, tweaked to 9000Kº for added warmth in post

Silhouette are easy to shoot, just point your camera to your backlit subject(s) (make sure there’s a strong light source behind your subject(s), preferably the Sun lah if it’s daytime), make sure there’s separation between your foreground subject(s) against the light and shoot away.

Just dontch look into direct sunlight when you peers into the viewfinder, all that focussed sunlight can damaged your optic nerve, so that’s why lah I hid the Sun behind my subject matter whenever I do silhouette.

If I can do it (making a pretty silhouette pic-ture), _You_ oso can what!
