I gonna let the pictures do the talking, after all, a picture paints a thousand words, no?
At the workshop, the ever lovely Ms Sofea modelled for us lah…

We learn about how to control available light...
The Day started a wee bit cloudy, then the Sun comes out and we have, bright, blue (1/125th f16 @ ISO 100). Ever kena when the Sun too bright and contrasty and you absolutely need to use the location? Go on, use your China Made Rm90.00 reflector lah. (Eh? What do you mean your China made ones are cheaper? Dammit I’ve got cheated aiseh men…)

When the sun went hiding behind some clouds, out come the silver reflector...
Then the Day turns cloudy again, so we use the 5-in-1 reflector panels thingies. We just use the silvery bits and reflect back some lights lah (now I’m not gonna share how much I paid for mine, you kiasu folks will claims that your’s cheaper cehh pigi raahhh. Itu pun mau menang ka?).
Speaking of reflector, you gonna ask me why there’s a gold colur one and when to use it. Here, lemme share with you, if you wanna add ‘warmth’ to your picture, especially so to a very pale sickly looking Caucassian Goth dewd and his dewdette couple, you use the golden reflector to make their skin ‘glows’ a warm ‘golden’ hue lah.
Now you gonna have a healthy looking Goth couple instead of a deathly pale looking one. The Goth couple might not be pleased tho becoz THEY wanted to looked deathly pale oso. Hehehe fail.
On that note, I dontch get Goth dewd and dewdette with brown skin karer. A black fingernails and black lipstick dontch a Goth maketh. You guys get the concept all wrong lerr…
Anyhow, since we’re NOT talking about Goth or “Gothic” folks (ever noticed in Facebook™ pages about this time last year all of a sudden every GWC with a Facebook™ does a “Goth” or “Gothic theme”? Sad kan? Tiru bulat-bulat macham burung kakak tua, tahu ajuk tapi tak faham apa yang diajukkannyer..), let’s get back to see some of the participants work lah…

It’s all not serious stuff all the way tho, we had a good laff in between lessons…

We had a good laff at some other camera making company expense, they happens to make calculators and photocopier and printers...
..I think we had some laffs about some guys who got himself in trouble about direct flash usage. I think lah, we talked and shared about so much stuff I can’t rememberit all. Heheh that’s a lie, you can’t forget about direct flash usage, especially so if you have a Facebook™ account lah heh heh heh
Last but not least, here’s a photo of the lovely Ms Sofea lah, sesajer take one for posterity and her own folio oso *winks*

…if you like the image (I purposely under exposed the ambient light by selecting a high-ish shutter speed and bounced the light to an umbrella, I added another light at the back to light up part of the background foliage. the highlights at the back there may looked somewhat brighter to some others but it’s my image dammit suka-suka I lah apa mau bikin. Lemme see _your_ work you Keyboard/Facebook™/Weekend Warrior) here’s a bigger size file for you to download and save it as your desktop or screen saver lah. Just make sure your boss/wife/gf/pengkid bf dontch get jeles ajer sudah lah whoah hahahahahahahahahaha

Later, at lunch (3.05pm, ngam-ngam missed the lunch special so had to pay more), over BigMac and Double Cheeseeburger deep fried artery clogging friees and Coke flavoured iced sugar water we went thru each others work (from the back of the camera lcd panel ajer) and shared comments and tips on how to improve each other work lah. I think some other people (who charged obscene amount of money to teach a basic trick or two then let the group he round-up together do a “free-for-all” “lingerie model” shoot) will call it a “review session” or something.
Anyway, this particular group is a very curious lot, they asked more than the usual technicalities involved in producing a photographic work. Determining what ISO to use or what f-stop to select or which angle shall one choose to framed the photos is relatively easy. (Tekan-tekan butang ajer mah dapat gambar what!) A Question that I particularly like is how to avoid doing artwork that seems “syiok sindri”. Heheh, I countered plak about “syiok sesama sindri” especially so in Facebook™. We all have a nice laff about that.
On a serious note, we shared ideas about developing oneself in the field of photography. My advice to everyone:
try everything once! if you like it, try it again!
so if you’re thinking of monetising your hobby by dabbling in wedding photography business on a part time basis, go ahead! Try it. If you’re thinking of doing commercial photography after grown tired from doing weddings every weekends, go on! Just do it, there’s nothing there to stop you. If you’re been doing commercial and would like to take time off to recharge your creative juice, go on, explore the fine art route. if you think that you can’t do any of these through whatever reasons, remember, they just excuses.
P.S. Did I typed earlier that I will let the picture do the talking? Fail. Whoah hahahahahahha
