So yesterday, right after I did an assignment for a Biotech Company (I’ve been servicing the company for the past 2 years, laterlah I tell you about it…) I winded down by having a nice cuppa of White Coffee (act-cheerly ah, it’s kopi susu ajer) with some friends lah from PhotoMalaysia.com.
I announced in the said forum that I gonna conduct a mini talk titled: ‘Zen And The Art of Nikon CLS System versus PocketWizard™ Nirvana’.
No lah, it’s just a joke that I share-share with my shooting kaki. So anyhow, Glenn the famous photographer from the Star newspaper dropped by ler…

So ahhh, what does exactly a Pocket Wizard do lah?
Well, it’s basically an expensive piece of plastic (that breaks easily, oh, we know so much about that lah) that breaks easily (I mentioned it twice, for emphasise) that houses some circuitry and radio transmitter that can triggers remotely located flash(es) and camera(s).
What you should oso know that, units from the US (where it originates from) uses different radio frequencies from The Rest of The World units (even tho SAME model one, hampeh!) thus NOT compatible with the said Rest Of The World units. I found that out the hard way (Didn’t I mentioned that they’re expensive piece of plastic?).
One would ask lah, why not buy them Made-in-China radio triggering devices, much cheaper and also plentiful (in local market and oso e-Bay)?
Well, I tried them out, and reliability is an issue. If you’re gear doesn’t werk in front of Clients, or a photoshoot is marred by ‘technical difficulties’, you won’t look good in front of Clients, no?
so ted..when is your next workshop in KL
erm shafiq dewd,
insya-Allah selepas Hari Raya AidilFitri
